Harvard Model Congress Europe" (HMCE) 2009

The weekend before Easter holidays 2009, a group of 12th grade WRS students debated in controversial court cases, searched for solutions to the world's most urgent problems, and reported on the current political events. All of this they did in Brussels, Belgium, as part of the 22nd Harvard Model Congress Europe. Next to 380 other students of twelve countries from all over the world and about 40 Harvard University undergraduates and staff, Maja, Rogina, Sophia, Amy, Nan, and Kuschan participated in this grand simulation of the US government and major international programs. Their pre-assigned roles varied from being Supreme Court members to Japan representatives in G8 and a reporter of the press corps. During the Closing Ceremony, four of them even received Awards of Distinction. But even without these awards the students were all convinced that this experience had definitely been worth the time and effort for the excitement. Working eagerly to contribute to the conference was incredibly rewarding. Plus, there was some time left in between sessions to have fun outside the committees and thanks to the WRS' faculty advisors Mrs. Gräser and Mrs. Klein everything outside the Congress went smoothly as well. What memorable four days!
